The School for Gifted Children
The academy's faculty and student body, ruled each year by a King, Queen and Jack chosen in open combat.
History
The Battle of the Kings pits second-year students against one another until one yields or can no longer fight. The winner earns the title of King and absolute authority within the school for a year, and may not compete again in their third year. The next two take Queen and Jack, with diminishing authority.
None of it is enforced. It exists to see how future generations handle power — whether they will abuse it, or lead wisely.
