Ali Hamza

Overview

Ali Hamza is a student of the School of Knowledge for Gifted Children and the son of Hamza Hakim, Viscount of the Kingdom of Agabah. His father is remembered as a fierce, cunning general who led the charge against the late Kingdom of Lindsey. In Volume I, Ali is introduced through the tournament roster rather than through a separate school scene; that position nevertheless places him among the young nobles whose family histories shape the event.

During the Battle of the Kings, Ali is paired with Yuki Hayami. The match establishes him as one of the opening competitors in the contest that determines the school’s King, Queen, and Jack. Volume I does not provide a separate account of his life after Yuki defeats him, so the tournament remains the complete public record of his role in this volume.

Connections

Ali’s place at the school connects him to Professor Tomo, who announces the match, and to Yuki, the opponent who advances past him. His lineage also links him to the wider political memory of the fall of Lindsey, the same history that informs the school’s social divisions.
