Elian Stewart

Overview

Elian Stewart is the headmaster of the School of Knowledge for Gifted Children, a two-hundred-year-old commoner from the fallen Kingdom of Lindsey whose command of arcane knowledge has earned renown even among hostile nobles. He governs a school where noble children are accustomed to power and commoners to humiliation, and he repeatedly uses his authority to disrupt that expectation.

Before Ryuji arrives, Elian overrules Professor Tomo's objections and makes room for him in Class 2-B. Earlier, at the Adventurers’ Guild, he meets Ryuji through The Guild Master and tests the young adventurer himself; the brief duel ends with Elian defeating him through air magic but leaves the invitation open. Elian later opens the Battle of the Kings, observes its worst moments without immediately stopping them, and watches uneasily when Shun approaches the school in His Return.

Connections

Elian is Ryuji’s sponsor at the school and the institutional counterweight to Tomo. His long acquaintance with Shun places him between the Tower’s private history and the public crisis that closes Volume I.
