The Kingdom of Chiseido

Knowledge and diplomacy

Chiseido is the south-eastern kingdom of Kaladria, a land associated with flowers, trees, study, and the pursuit of the arcane. It was once united with Hikari; where Hikari’s identity centres on military strength and martial arts, Chiseido is described as preferring diplomacy and knowledge. That preference does not make it weak: the human heroes are said to come from Chiseido.

Civil war

A civil war broke out in Chiseido a few years after Hikari’s, and the heroes helped bring it to a rapid end. The speed of that end does not soften the event’s cost. The conflict is called a brutal massacre and killed the birth parents of Sawano Torafuku, whose later place in House Torafuku connects a private loss to the kingdom’s public history.

Institutions and houses

Its capital is Kenmeikyo, seat of the School of Knowledge for Gifted Children. The academy’s prestige and its discrimination reveal a contradiction within a kingdom committed to learning. Major families active in its Volume I social order include House Torafuku, House Hayami, House Shibatani, and the Morita Barony.
