Old Chiseido nobility

House Shibatani is one of Chiseido’s oldest noble families and a patron of the School of Knowledge for Gifted Children. It is headed by Hinoki Shibatani, Earl of Chiseido, and its inherited element is fire. Its age, patronage, and magical tradition give the house a structural place in the academy’s hierarchy rather than merely a private family reputation.

Riki Shibatani

Riki Shibatani carries that authority into the school. He uses fire magic and noble rank to intimidate students, and Ryuji’s refusal to submit turns their conflict into a central confrontation of the Battle of the Kings. Riki’s expectations are reinforced by a culture that has taught noble children to treat commoners as lesser beings.

Service of the Moritas

The Morita Barony has served House Shibatani for generations. Its heir Nori Morita is Riki’s assigned protector, an arrangement that makes the elder house’s authority tangible in the lives of other students. The relationship also reveals the cost of patronage when a family’s loyalty is expected to outlast the justice of the person it protects.
