The Kingdom of Agabah

Desert kingdom

Agabah is the south-western human kingdom of Kaladria. It is known for extreme desert heat and for the difficulty of travelling through its territory. In Volume I, this physical identity is paired with a forceful political role: Agabah is not a remote background realm but one of the states that acts when Lindsey challenges the postwar settlement.

The Lindsey coalition

Agabah joined Helio after Lindsey’s king marched against the Tower. The coalition declared war on the grounds that Lindsey had broken the Treaty of Hope. With Lindsey weakened by its disastrous assault on the Tower, the two attackers overwhelmed its defences and divided the former kingdom’s territory.

A presence at the school

The kingdom is represented in the school generation by Ali Hamza. His place among the academy’s students shows how the School of Knowledge for Gifted Children draws children whose families and states are connected to the wider map of Kaladria, not only to Chiseido’s local nobility.
