Work and rank
The Adventurers’ Guild is the organisation through which fighters accept paid quests and establish their standing by letter rank. Its Volume I connection is the Dark Forest of Eterna, where danger creates the need for people willing to fight on behalf of villages and travellers. The guild gives a solitary warrior both livelihood and a public measure of ability.
Ryuji’s year in the Guild
Ryuji Sato first became involved when he drove off bandits attacking a village. Residents assumed he was the help they had requested; when the actual adventurers arrived, they invited him to join. He accepted and spent a year completing quests alone, fighting monsters in the forest, and rising to B-rank. This experience explains the self-reliance and practical violence he brings to the School.
The bet
Ryuji later carried a hobgoblin commander’s head to the guild as proof for a promotion request. Instead of a simple advancement, the meeting produced a bet with the Guild Master. Ryuji lost it and was required to attend the School of Knowledge for Gifted Children. The guild is therefore the institution that bridges his isolated life in Eterna and the school’s aristocratic world.
