The Kingdom of Lindsey

A former western kingdom

Lindsey was the western kingdom of Kaladria and the state that formerly contained the Eterna Mountains. It was already close to collapse under a succession of corrupt monarchs when the Gate appeared. The range’s loss under the postwar treaty therefore struck a fragile kingdom whose rulers and nobles regarded lost territory as a resource and a grievance.

Victor’s invasion

Victor the Third rejected the Treaty of Hope and prepared an army of thirty thousand to reclaim Eterna and seize the Tower. A warning delivered in the mountain passes did not change his course. The Tower’s guardian defeated the invading army and Victor died, creating the event remembered as the First Transgression.

Dissolution

The defeat left Lindsey exposed. Agabah and Helio declared war, overwhelmed its already depleted defences from two fronts, and divided its land. Lindsey ceased to exist. Elian Stewart, the School’s common-born headmaster, is identified as one of the kingdom’s surviving commoners; his life makes the lost state part of the academy’s present.
