The Ethos are neither human nor demon. Volume II reveals that Shun accidentally reached their realm while studying the Gate and returned before the second portal closed. They share demons’ acute sense for mana and can identify a being’s species by aura.

Mimi and time

Mimi is Ethos and appears in her early twenties despite being forty-three. The revelation changes the apparent history of the Tower household and establishes that the worlds known to Kaladria are part of a wider six-realm arrangement, described as a water-droplet spatial pattern.

Relation to the Tower

The Ethos information is revealed inside the Tower household rather than through a distant traveller’s tale. Mimi’s age, appearance, and mana sense become facts that change how Ryuji, Sawano, and the reader understand the people surrounding Shun. The closed second portal means this knowledge expands the map without providing a new route of travel.
