The Horned Ones

An ancient warrior race

The Horned Ones are named for the first time in Chapter 20, where the narration calls them an ancient warrior race and identifies them by a single unmistakable signature: a pair of great, sweeping ram-like horns.

The name is given as an aside while describing Akiyama Magnus, Commander of the Royal Knights and Heir to the Demon throne. He is the only figure the published story explicitly identifies as one of them.

Horns and authority

What Chapter 20 establishes is that the horns are legible as a mark of lineage rather than merely of demonhood. They are described as a signature — something a reader of the scene is expected to recognise on sight, and which places its bearer in a named people with a martial history.

The vision of Magnus in Chapter 19 describes the Demon King with horns curling from his brow like a ram's — the same image Chapter 20 names as the race's unmistakable signature. Chapter 20 does not label Magnus a Horned One in so many words, so the connection is an inference; but it is one the two descriptions make directly, and it is why this wiki records the reigning Demon King among the lineage alongside Akiyama Magnus, who shares his name and is named heir to his throne.

Scope of the record

The account is deliberately thin, because the chapter's is. Chapter 20 provides the name, the physical signature, and the fact that the race is ancient and martial. It provides no homeland, no emblem, no doctrine, no population, and no political history.

Shun Sato grows horns when he takes his demon form during the Battle of a Thousand Shadows, but the published story does not connect that transformation to this race, and the two should not be conflated at this boundary.
